Student Choice High School is thrilled to announce that Yesenia Barkley has been awarded the prestigious School Social Worker of the Year award by the School Social Work Association of Arizona (SSWAAZ). This recognition celebrates Mrs. Barkley’s exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting students facing unique challenges at our alternative high school. Alternative high schools serve students who often navigate complex life circumstances, including academic struggles, emotional trauma, housing insecurity, and intricate family dynamics. These students require a holistic approach to education, one that addresses their social, emotional, and physical needs alongside their academic growth. Mrs. Barkley embodies this approach, serving as a critical link between students, the school, and the broader community.
