About SCHS San Luis Learning Center
The SCHS San Luis Learning Center is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in San Luis, Arizona. Our campus is located at 1914 Cesar Chavez Blvd. (located inside Plaza Riedel) and operates Monday through Friday. We support students who are ready to work toward a high school diploma through an alternative education model built around flexibility and individualized planning.
At our San Luis campus, students learn in a focused environment where teachers take time to understand their academic history and future goals. Meet Principal Gerardo Huerta of SCHS San Luis Learning Center
Principal Gerardo Huerta, a lifelong San Luis resident with a deep connection to the community, leads the San Luis Learning Center. After leaving college to become a teacher, he returned home with a mission to make a lasting impact on local students. His early career included teaching English and AVID at San Luis High School, where he quickly earned recognition for his work with students.
Principal Huerta was named First Year Teacher of the Year during his first year in the classroom and later became a finalist for Yuma County High School Teacher of the Year. His experience also includes serving as an AVID Certified Trainer and as a data and technology coach. His leadership at SCHS focuses on accountability, encouragement, and helping students believe in their ability to earn their diploma and plan for life beyond high school.
